Are 2005 Baby Girl Names Last Season
If you look at the 2005 top 100 girl names list, it almost seems as if there has been a resurgence of baby names from the 1950's and earlier. Is it my imagination, or are the 2005 top 100 girl names so last season? Before you go thinking that I'm off on a wild goose chase, let's examine some of the 2005 baby girl names that also appeared on the 2003 and 2004 lists. Upon examination, you'll find not only names like Emma, Madison, and Olivia, but also names like Elizabeth, Grace, and Sophia - and they're still on the 2005 top 100 girl names list.

I'm sure anyone that can remember their grandmothers, or even great grandmothers, will recognize some of these names. With a little detective work, I think we'll see why the 2005 baby girl names have such a resemblance to these beautiful old fashioned names.

As people grow old and pass on, there is a desire by those that remember them fondly to honor them. It makes perfect sense that the 2005 baby girl names seem a little old fashioned, because in this case they most likely are. The 2005 top 100 girl names are clearly an effort in remembrance and tradition.

Also, when it comes to baby naming, the possibilities are endless. Parents will gravitate towards names of either people they don't know at all, or people that are close to them. The 2005 top 100 girl names reflect both of these mindsets. The gravitation towards names of people that parents don't know can be for two primary reasons, they don't like most of the people they know and therefore don't want their baby to remind them of an obnoxious co-worker or boring classmate they once knew… or, for the second reason, that they don't want to offend any current relatives.

On the other hand, what the 2005 top 100 girl names list more likely demonstrates is that parents gravitate towards names of people that are close to them. Also, if you're naming children after grandparents or great grandparents, there probably won't be much be much jealousy among the other relatives because they most likely view your grandparents as you do. So, the next time you check out the 2005 baby girl names list and see names like Ava, Sydney, or Katherine, don't think they're like last season's fashion, but more like a movie classic remade.
